The citizenship class - an integration course offering guidance and qualification pursuant to Danish Integration Act §23a.
The course is designed for non-Western foreigners, including refugees and those who have been reunited with a refugee family member pursuant to Danish Integration Act §2, Sections 2 and 3, who require a special, preparatory and qualification program to establish a connection with the labor market.
Work in the citizenship class is directed toward enabling the course participant to take on a practical experience position at a company. The course is therefore the participant's first step on the path to regular employment and self-sufficiency.
The citizenship class is divided into three stages that lead the course participant from identifying qualifications they have brought with them through guidance and qualification, including acquiring industry-relevant vocabulary, practical skills, understanding of labor market conditions and the educational system, to independent formulation of their own skills (curriculum vitae, CV), searching for practical experience positions and practice interviews related to taking on a practical experience position.
Once the course participant has completed Stage 3, the course participant is then ready for further active participation in the labor market through a practical experience position within a company. Once the practical experience position has been established, the course ends in citizenship class, while the course participant continues Danish language instruction.
