Staff and Spouses/partners at Aarhus UniversityWe offer international staff members and their spouses free Danish courses at beginner and advanced levels. The courses are planned as a cooperation between Aarhus University and Lærdansk Aarhus and most courses take place on campus. We have highly educated and experienced teachers and use modern materials to ensure a fast and efficient learning process. All our courses are consistent with the Common European Framework of Reference for Language.
Please note: The Ministry has changed the law regarding free Danish education and has introduced a deposit. A deposit of DKK 1.250 is required before starting your free Danish language course. The deposit will be returned to you whenever you choose to deregister from the Danish courses. After you register you will recieve more information.
Before you fill out the registration you have to find the right documents.
The requirements for signing up are the following:
- If you are an employee from an EU country you have to attach your contract.
- If you are an employee from a non EU country you have to attach your contract of employment and your residence permit.
- If you are a spouse/partner you have to attach your spouses/partners contract of employment and your residence permit.
If you do not attach the correct documents you cannot be signed up for the course.

This intensive course is offered only at a beginner level and corresponds to 50 lessons. The classes are held every day for two weeks. There are several crash courses throughout the year, depending on the semester and the number of participants.

During the full course you will develop an active Danish vocabulary and gain an insight into the Danish culture. The course is a mix between class room and online lessons. The classes are designed specifically to international staff and their spouses.
