Maybe I’ll get a job in Denmark

I’m studying for a PhD at the institute for physics and chemistry at SyddanskUniversity. We have three hours a week of Danish tuition here at the university. It’s more practical for me than the standard model for Danish tuition where you normally have classes 12 ½ hours a week.

The pronunciation is a challenge

Many of my colleagues don’t think it’s important to learn the language since they are only here for three years. But I’m learning Danish to feel as part of society. And who knows, perhaps I’ll get a job here in Denmark. Besides, I’ve got a number of Danish friends with whom I’d like to speak Danish.

For me, it’s not so hard to learn Danish. Many words are similar to German. But the pronunciation is a challenge, for instance the Danish soft ‘d’. And then the Danes speak so fast!
