The course gives you basic Danish skills and an understanding of Danish language and culture in the workplace. You will learn words and sentences that you can immediately use in your work, studies and everyday life.
The course is offered in day and evening classes, so you can take the Danish for the Labor Market course alongside your work or studies.
Danish for the Labor Market is first and foremost about listening and speaking. We spend a lot of time working on your pronunciation. Danish is hard. "Say it again" is the most commonly used sentence in Danish for the Labor Market.
The course focuses on real-life situations. We include situations and sentences from your everyday life at work or school. You can use a lot of what you learn the very next day, when you see your colleagues or friends.
We use Google Apps in courses at Lærdansk. Many of our course materials are available online, so you can use them at school and at home. You also have access to more than 500 online exercises.
Danish for the Labor Market is divided into five packages with 50 lessons each for a total of 250 lessons. The five packages have the themes "Getting started in Denmark", "Getting started with Danish", "Making progress", "Things are improving" and "On the way to..."
If you complete the Danish for the Labor Market course in 18 months or less, you will be entitled to additional 36 months of free Danish education, which continues on to Danish education 1, Danish education 2 or Danish education 3.
Each of the five modules ends with a short evaluation that shows whether you are ready for the next module. After 250 lessons, you can take a final examination. The examination shows whether you can continue on to Danish education 1, Danish education 2 or Danish education 3. It also shows which module you can begin with.
Danish for the Labor Market is free for you who:
- either resides in Denmark (residence permit)
- or is a citizen of the EU working in Denmark (work permit)
- and has a civil registration number
- and is 18 years of age
If you do not meet the requirements for free Danish instruction, you have the option to pay for it yourself. The price is DKK 70.00 per lesson.
You borrow the course books from us. You yourself must purchase materials, such as paper and pencils.
If you qualify to take the course for free, the examination is also free. If you are paying for the course yourself, or are doing independent study, you must pay a fee of DKK 1,265.00 when you register for the examination.
You can register for Danish for the Labor Market at the Lærdansk language center closest to you. Remember to bring a referral from the municipality/job center.
